Yesterday I got my first paycheck from Shutterstock, yey!
To say it short - selling stock vectors online is not an easy task. There are millions of people doing the same, and if you don't have a plan, or if you have big expectations, things may seem quite frustrating at times. I started only with the idea to motivate myself to draw more, and overall the fact that it's making me some money on top of it, still amazes me. You don't get to make $1000 in the first month, and the value of one photo/vector is $0,25, so... it's hard.
Fun fact - the above image (and it's variations) has sold over 25 times for the last two months ... I guess it does have something to do with the overall political problems in EU. So that's another part of the job - to be up-to-date.
The pros of me having a Stock profile are many - I am learning to draw a
bit "commercial", to make clean and light in size vectors, I'm getting
better with the tablet... I have made a strict timeline and exact
numbers, that I want to achieve each month till the end of this year,
and in order to do that, I have to commit a large part of my day
routine. It's still fun for me, and I still learn new things every days, so - "so far, so good". We'll see...
